

Some responsibilities are also delegated to the national agency, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), which supports the registration process in terms of digital keeping and providing access to vital events records registered by local union councils. Pakistan has a decentralized civil registration system in which local administrative bodies, local union councils, undertake the actual registration and bear legal responsibility to conduct registration. These changes included the 2018 draft Personal Data Protection Bill, which is modelled on the European Union General Data Protection Regulation.
